Library progress

You guys, I'm not a very good blogger. I thought that during this quarantine I would post every day during the week and keep you up to date with what's going on over here, and here I am posting for the second time. If you follow us on instagram, you'll see that we've been working our butts off though. We've gotten so much done but at the same time it feels like we have forever to go. It's crazy that we've lived in this house for almost a year and we're just now able to put our clothes in closets, haha (closet posts coming soon!).
The first room and real project we took on when we moved in was the library. It wasn't very exciting, but there wasn't really anything wrong with it either except for the fact that the dark wood made the room feel a little cold (see photos below). I definitely wanted to use a color other than white (surprise, surprise) and the more we thought about it, we also wanted to add beadboard to the wall behind the shelves. We talked about adding trim to the surround to give it a true built-in look, but that couldn't be done until the floors were installed. Along with adding trim, we also wanted to add picture lights for the ultimate cozy library feel. Well, now that the floors have been installed for months, B finally had the time to work on it (in reality I think he wanted to take a break from working on closets).

We ordered the picture lights about 6 months ago and they've just been sitting in boxes gathering dust, so I'm pleased to announce that they're currently being wired as I type this. Once the lights are installed, we need to put in the shelf sleeves and pins so we can officially put the shelves and books back (after I vacuum the dust off of every one). We're steps closer to having a room finished.
