The Window to My heart

There comes a moment in everyone's life where they sit back and say "dammit, I'm an adult now". This came for us when we realized how excited we were that we bought all new windows for the house. Yes, I said windows.

The seed for this project was planted when we first moved in to the home and replaced our front fish tank window (see early blog entry here). In the early 90's a previous homeowner replaced the original 4 front windows with one huge (and rather cheap) bay window. In keeping with the integrity of the home we called Lowe's and replaced this with 3 Pella double-hung windows with mullions on the upper half. The difference was phenomenal.

Fast forward several months to us living with the windows and seeing how quiet and efficient the windows are (not to mention they were one of the few windows that operated properly in the home). So, on our fast track to adulthood, we called the project specialist at Lowe's and had her measure the rest of our house for window replacements.

1 month of waiting and 30 replacement windows later, we could not be happier with the results. EVERY window in the house opens and closes. The windows are all double-hung so Jenna claims she is excited to clean them. The difference is truly unbelievable. The house has completely changed even though it looks the exact same. The house is now as warm as a reptile terrarium and as quiet as a study hall during a SAT exam. Who would have thought that replacing windows that were 90 years old would make such a difference...

So mark your calendars for Sunday, December 24, 2017 as the day we grew up and realized that even though its not shiny or able to be controlled from an app on your phone, new windows that look identical to the ones we replaced are the greatest thing ever!
